Travel Requirement Notice: All travellers must hold a valid UK ETA prior to departure.
Official list of nationalities eligible to apply for a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation
The UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is available to nationals of specific countries who do not need a visa to visit the United Kingdom. Whether you can apply depends on your nationality as shown on your passport. If your passport is issued by one of the countries listed below, you are required to obtain an ETA before travelling to the UK for tourism, business, transit, or short stays.
A UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is an entry requirement for nationals of visa-exempt countries travelling to the United Kingdom. It is not a visa — it is a pre-travel permission linked electronically to your passport. An approved ETA allows multiple short stays in the UK of up to 6 months each, and is valid for 2 years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.
The ETA is required for travel to England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, including transit through UK airports.
If you hold a passport from one of the 83 countries listed above and are travelling to the UK for tourism, business, study (up to 6 months), or transit, you must obtain an ETA before departure. Children and infants require their own ETA. There are no exemptions based on age.
British and Irish citizens do not need an ETA. UK residents with a valid visa or Biometric Residence Permit are also exempt.
If your country is not listed above, you are not eligible for an ETA and will need to apply for a UK visa instead. Please visit the official UK government website for visa guidance.
